FAT32 libraries

Postby bosley » Sun Jul 27, 2003 9:16 pm

Hi guys,
a question about the new FAT32 file system. Is it possible to buy a really big Fat32 formatted HD, put it inside the PC, copy all our sample CD-Rom library on it, and then organize-rename all libraries inside this HD ?

And with such a setup:
EMU <--> SCSI Cd- Rom <--->PC (with a SCSI EOS HD)

Is it Ok, or is it forbidden? It's pretty unclear for me...

THanx for your helop!

WHAT?!?!?!

umm..

are you wanting to do this just to reoginize the files? i am confused. i really don't know what you are after. this is what i think you might want to do. tell me if i am correct...

you want to send all your cd roms over to your computers hd, right? then you want to rename them and reoginize them, right? then i would imagine you would want to send them back to your emu?

is that right?

what is wrong with just loading them off of cd?

i would think this is possible. providing that you have an emu eos that actualy understands fat. if you don't have an eos that understands fat, then you wont be able to get the sampler to reconize the files. and assuming that the sample cd's are in fat. that might cause a problem if they aren't. you might either not get the waves or the preset info or anything. kind of like copying a ps2 game or something on your computer. it's there, just can't read it because it doesn't have the language to understand what you just transfered to your hd.

huh. maybe some one on here has actualy done this. i actualy am not to sure what would happen. but then i really never thought about doing this either. are you sample library cdroms ones you made or store bought?

well good luck with it.

hello,
thanx 4 your answer.
My question was not good formulated, sorry: the problem is to handle 50 sample cd-rom and to know where those Moog Basses are when we need them. and which one are the best. Because there are Moog Bass on at least 20 different CD's. But where?!
That's why I wanted to reorganize the CD and wanted to have them on a PC HD.
But I see this is not that possible...

cheers

i understand now. okay...

well here is my suggestion then. take 1 disc, and load it on your computer's hd, and then try to access this with your sampler. if it works, then you shouldn't have any issue with getting the banks renamed and all that. i would just hate to see you waiste your time. but now that i understand what you are on about. i think it is a good idea.

if it works. i am sure that there would be a lot of us interested in that. i know alot of people on here interface with their pc's.

good luck man
