Just installed my adaptec aha2940au and it's working great with my sampler hooked up via Sound Forge, EOS link's working fine too...
Had a bit of confusion installing the ASPI but I got that ok now.

Anyway;

I keep getting the Hardware Wizard at bootup (Windows XP) .... Can I or should I do anything to install drivers or software to address the driver search in hardware wizard? Is it just something I'm going to have to deal with everytime I re-boot my PC? Is it ultimately just a harmless warning because Win XP doesn't know what to idntify it as? Thanks

You need to run through the entire auto detect/install procedure.

I'm doing this from memory so please forgive me if the procedure is slightly out of whack.

When the "found new hardware" dialogue appears, select "Install software automatically" and click Next. Answer no to the search the internet option.

There is another prompt which pops up that I can't quite remember but I think it is the one for you to use a manufacturer supplied disk which you don't want to do.

The next dialogue should offer you the cancel/finish option. select finish to complete the installation.

Windows will prompt you to do this 8 times and you must complete the procedure in full all 8 times. Once this is done you won't be prompted again unless you move the sampler to another SCSI port.

Once you have done this the device manager should list your sampler 8 times.

excellent, thanks. I'll let you know if I experience any weirdness as this seems to be what I attempted but kept getting the hardware wizard at re-boot.

I keep getting the hardware wizard even after clicking all the way through to "finish". I must have gone through hardware wizard like 30 times?! Any ideas?

Also... MY SCSI Card shows up twice in device manager, I'm wondering if it's because I don't have an internal HD hooked up to the cards internal plug? Any ideas..

Dont forget the to mark the checkbox that say something like:"dont show this message again" when you are going through the 8 times routine.

I don't think your SCSI card should be listed twice, this may be causing you some grief. Not having anything connected to the internal bus should not be an issue.

Are you sure you have the correct drivers installed for it?

I figured out the issue with the card, I accidentally installed it twice. The drivers are installed ok and I have ASPI installed as well. The hardware wizard I get is only for the E-4 everytime I boot my computer... It works fine, Sound Forge will send and receive the samples just fine, but the hardware wizard always prompts me at startup?! Is it possibly an issue with XP and the SCSI card? I guess if it works and I just have to cancel out of hardware wizard eveytime I boot up I can live with it... hmm...

Still gettting the hardware wizard prompts at bootup everytime, but if that's the only issues I have with it then that's no big deal. Anyone even thinking of gettting a SCSI card should not even hesitate, this thing is the best thing I've ever bought for my EMU, I'm already kicking myself and thinking why the f#@!didn't I get one sooner. Now I can clean up all those old samples I made when I first bought it and get them sounding good!

Make sure you check the box that says 'don't prompt me again to install this soiftware', worked for me anyway.

Yep I've tried it...

Done all the steps but still get the prompts... don't get it but it works otherwise...strange.
