I was told that you needed a boot up disc to start the Controller, remember there's no HDD and when you start the controller it does nothing it just shows Boot V0.36 or something to that effect and nothing else

Actually, I don't have the faintest clue to what you are talking about. When you start up your keys you should get some boot up screens, and end up in one of the modes. Have you read the manual? You should see either a range of sliders (one of the multimode-views), a list of channels and according presets (multimode-view), or something like "P001 - No preset" in big letters (singlemode-view). It really does not mather wheter you have an internal harddrive or not.

I suggest you read the manual, and you probably would understand a bit more. It's for download at the main page.

What do you see when you boot up?

Hi there, yeh maybe I don't know what I'm talking about.

1) When I start up the controller all I get on the screen is 'boot vo,36
Now I know I'm not that crazy but nothing else comes up so when I get this message I don't know what to do?

When I asked someone about this he said I needed a boot up disc so really If you don't know what I'm talking about and I don't know what I'm talking about then the guy who originally said I needed a stiffy boot up disc does not know what his talking about, You telling me that when you switch on the machine I should see a series of commands on the display screen then I'm afraid I will have to dump this machine because it now sounds to me that it's totally finished and ready for the dust bin, Common sense would have told me like you said, that if I switched on the controller I should see what you say I should see but alas! all I see no matter what is the words"Boot V0.36" what this means I have no idea yes I've looked at the manuals not right through but at a glance, when I press Dec or in nothing happens, press disc nothing happens, press F1 etc nothing happens thr screen just stays the same 'Sigh'

Strange...

Could it be that, since there's no HD, the E4K cannot load the default empty bank? Just a guess...

The thing is, if it doesn't boot up, it's not even good as a MIDI controller!

pm me your address and I'll send you a floppy disc with EOS3.0 on it but I'm not convinced that'll solve the problem.

I've tried booting my e-synth without a hdd, and the default bank is stored in some rom or something, so that would not be the problem.

It sounds like you might have a problem with your e4k, but don't throw it away just yet. I would have tried to reinstall the operating system, just to see if that's the problem.

See my reply to your pm.

If the instructions don't work, send me your full snail mail address and I'll send you a floppy with EOS 3.0b on it.

Ole is right, you have to try that first.
