What is the 'highest' version of EOS I can run on my E4K?

My configuration:
64 voices
128Mb sample RAM
1Mb CPU RAM
1Mb Flash RAM
EOS 3.00b

Could I install v. 4.10 without requiring a hardware upgrade? I know I don't have enough flash RAM to run 4.62.

Thanks,

Gilles

Dear Gilles!

I'm not shure which is the highest EOS version you could run on your E4K, but for sure you can't upgrade to EOS 4.10. It also requires at least 2 MB of FLASH RAM. For more information, follow this link: http://www.emu.com/support/files/downlo ... =1&File=80

What does the flash RAM upgrade involve exactly?

Is it just a matter of putting a card in a slot, like RAM, or does it involve soldering?

Thanks,

Gilles

It requires soldering. On the rack mount samplers it was a "clip in" chip (like a memory chip). On the E4K it is soldered.

On my E6400 classic i upgraded from eos 3.00b to eos 4.62, i bought a 2MB CPU flashram and it didn't require soldering.
I only put it in the CPUram slot and follow the procedure for upgrading (don't remember exactly sorry).

The guy techtone sold this 2MB cpuram few months ago with eos 4.62 inside.

As I recall you need to use flashprep to upgrade from low numbered EOS versions.
