DVD-RAM in Classic E4 working

Postby drayon » Sun Jul 08, 2007 7:49 am

Just reporting a working DVD-RAM solution for Classic E4 samplers with EOS 4.62.

Formats, Reads/writes to 4.3gig Panasonic DVD-RAM media.

Drive used is an ATAPI LG DVD Multi drive inside an External SCSI case with an ACard SCSIDE Bridge board.

Haven't tried it in my Ultra's tho confident they too will also work.

that is awesome. Try it with the ultra... I am very curious about this... I might be running 4.1... not sure... But that is completely awesome. That would be the best thing for a solution yet!

So the other question I have is... Since you seem to be part of the old skool crew... (your location)... Do you know the lyric bit on NRG's Choon, He never lost his hardcore... You know... the high pitched bit after the first "This aint over yet" sample

Hey S&H

i'd suggest EOS 4.61 for an Ultra as the minimum version for DVD-RAM to be working. I have Ultra's with 4.61 ill test that out in a few weeks, u'd need to be a bit patient on that one...im away atm.

As for NRG, haha never was a big tune of mine back in 93.... ill pitch shift if down tonite and have a listen an try to ID the same 4 ya.

stay cool

Cheers man... So you know exactually what sample I am refering to. It has to be an old hip hop choon or something... I can't quite make out the first bit...

Anyway... i will be waiting for your responses. Cheers man.

I couldn't tell you where the OG sample came from in that tune "He never locked his car door" . Im gona link up my mate who's the encyclopedia on tunage electro, hip hop, old skool house hardcore jungle an dnb.

I think the rap is

In the end you'll be surprised, then you'll start to realize: totally computerized, synthesized, digitized.

ok my man came back with the following info 4 ya 2 assimilate. It would seem the rap was live and most likely on the album noted in the quote.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"In 'He Never Lost His Hardcore', you used a sample of Sir Mix-a-lot live at UK Fresh. Did you go to the gig and did oldschool hip hop an electro influence your tracks?
Very much so - very well spotted!!! i'd like to know who spotted that? I never got to UK Fresh 86, but I did see Public Enemy the following year when they live-recorded the air-raid siren intro for 'It takes a nation of millions' album. This has been massively sampled since!!! I started off as a Hip-Hop DJ - that's why so many rap samples found their way onto my tunes."

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hope this is useful ;-))

so this means I should be able to find this sample on one of Mix a lot's cd's?... I have it takes a nation of millions to hold us back so I would think this one shouldn't be hard to find... Any idea where I should look for it? I did a search but have no idea what of the many albums I should try to buy.

Anyway... I have been trying to figure out this sample for the past fifteen years. Thank you so much.

Let me know how the ultra does with the DVD ram... oh... and if you need anything, I will try to help you out as best I can. I owe you one.

DVD-RAM works fine on the Ultra's with the latest EOS. I have an E64 and an E5k and both read/write/format DVD-RAM's fine, up to 4.7GB.
