it works on may apple g4

apple g4 >> castlewood usb2scsi >> dsp quattro >>> emu e5000

it works only when the sample is the only device hooked up.
it did not work with a scsi chain.

I assume you mean Peak 4? I don't think Peak 5 has SCSI support.

Has anyone had success with an Intel Mac and using a SCSI to USB adaptor? I would be willing to boot into Windows or OS X but, I'd prefer OS X. I know there are differences between Panther and Tiger as far as SCSI support goes so I was just curious if anyone had any success transferring this way?

Incorrect.

Peak Pro 5 still does support SCSI/SMIDI transfers with E-MU, Kurzweil, Yamaha & Peavy samplers.

OK - So has anybody been able to do ANY kind of a SCSI transfer between their E-MU sampler (EOS) and an Intel-based Mac (Mac Pro, MacBook, MacBook Pro, etc..) without an expensive ATTO UL5D card?

If so, how do you do it?

Regarding the 2 Zip disk drive method...

Would this work with ESI? Because AFAIK EOS has its own format, I don't see how you could possibly use 2 Zip drives, one USB one SCSI unless the newer versions of EOS on the Ultra series actually read PC formatted disks.

teknosmoker, I have an Intel-based MacPro as well, I am wondering how the fuck I'm gonna get this going..

You can get an Atto UL3D on eBay for $10 and it does work in all versions of OS X up to 10.5.5 (tested first-hand).

What OS are you using ? 4.7 allows FAT32 transfers from PC/Mac to Ultra if you can move the disk/compact flash card/zip/jazz/removable 2.5" IDE drive etc....

For the chap with a macbook pro you could use a PCMCIA scsi card with an express card to cardbus adaptor.........
