Stuck in the past

Postby om » Tue Aug 14, 2007 10:11 pm

Hey Everyone,

I have an emulator X sitting in a box which I dont use cuz I have 2 maxed ultras (though one doesnt have the ADAT upgrade) and I am currently bidding on an E4 classic. I run all hardware and no software except for Zoeos which I stopped using due to a lack of 64 bit support and support in general . I also have an ASR-X, Novation KSR and Yamaha AW16G.

I could probably get rid of all this hardware and just use the Emulator X and something like Pro Tools.

Am I just living in the past? Should I sell it all and just use the X?

Well.. dont care to sell that old junk.. just ship it to me.. i will be kind with you and pay the postage.

then you can use your Emulator X in peace, without having all that junk around in your studio!

I wrestle with this issue every day.

I have kept a few hw samplers, but I don't really use them anymore

Do it the way it works for you, that is the golden rule.

You know I really like them alot. Having considered everyones input I am going to take everyone's advice (except for ehasting - sorry ehasting) and keep everything, continue to use the ULTRAS till they absolutely give out. Then I have the X as the upgrade path with only minor things to learn.

I have to agree and I own the E4XT Ultra, an E6400 Ultra and the Emulator X2, although you have to realise they do not sound identical. Take a listen and make up your own mind!

One can sound better on bass and the other can sounds better on leads, but I guess thats all subjective depending on the sounds you're looking for, I won't say which is which.

I wouldn't sell either tho mate tbh.
