swapping HD - E6400 to another

Postby sturoc » Tue Jul 12, 2005 11:06 pm

I have 2 E6400s: one has an HD in it. I would like to take it out and put into the other which has more upgrades in it.
Is it a simple process or are there issues ??

Did the HD swap

Postby sturoc » Mon Aug 18, 2008 4:47 am

Well apparently there are some issues or steps to be done.
The HD which I took out of my other E6400 class. had a bunch of folders on it .
Did the swap over along with a midi card option.
The unit see's the HD but shows it many times - 7 to be exact and the floppy. all have the contents and can load it from them no problem but

I think there's a scsi issue here?

Ribbon was connected same as in other unit red strip towards front panel
Also with the 2nd midi card installed the prev or next button led is in multi mode, this is normal ?

It sounds like a SCSI termination issue. Is termination switched on in the new machine? Check under master>setup>scsi. If it is switched off, turn it on (and vice versa). Changing the SCSI ID might help also - the Emu and hard drive need different SCSI ID's.

Got it, thanks for the reminder on scsi id's.
termination normally wants to be on as per manual.
