That makes a lot of sense. I tried upgrading to 4.7 but I think the disk is defective. The EMU will read that there is a 4.7 boot but after hitting enter to proceed, it stays forever on the "Loading OS" screen and nothing happens. Do I have to run flashprep before upgrading from 4.61 to 4.7?
Thanks

I have about 20 to 30 Akai CDs.
I know there are several which no longer exist. I can upload some of them

No, just if you go from some version lower (which i dont remember), maybe your disk is defect or the os copy didnt work as intended.. i had to use 2 disk before i got it up.

Sorry about the changes.. but psy-works.net have been moved to a mediawiki site (not done yet), and upload is done by using ftp.

ftp: psy-works.net
login: psyworks
pass: Music

then create a user on the wiki and create a page you add under Sample CDs category.. pm me if you want help for it :).

the reason for the move is that its now on a dedicated server, on a bigger line located on a more stabile place then my basement :P

It's quite easy really.

This works for me - your milage may vary

For E4B banks you will need your E-Mu upgraded to 4.7, a scsi card in your PC and an external scsi drive of some variety - a Zip is perfectly adequate, I use a Jaz. You could also use an external hard drive.
  • Make sure your sampler/computer and drive is turned off before you plug/unplug the drive. Always turn your drive on first before you turn your computer or sampler on. Always shut down your computer or sampler before you unplug a drive.
  • With the scsi drive plugged into your sampler, format the external drive from your sampler using the FAT option
  • With the scsi drive plugged into your computer, copy the E4B files to the scsi drive
  • With the scsi drive plugged into your sampler again, browse the folders until you find your banks
  • Load and enjoy!
Of course, the best thing would be to have a pair of Zip drives so you can just eject the disks - they go for nothing these days... I have one in my garage I'm going to dump in a skip because they don't fetch any money on eBay. If anyone wants it they can come and collect.

Also you can use this to transfer WAV files to your emu - just make a folder on your external drive, save your wav samples to it and follow the instructions in the manual.

For the disk images, use something like Nero or Imgburn to burn the image to a CD and then put it in a CDROM connected to the sampler.

Hey all, bought a fully pimped E6400 Ultra recently and really keen to top up the collection of CDs that came with it and contribute to this collection, is it still live somewhere?
Cheers.
Greg.

Thanks a lot for the help im on mac now and i see that can be a big problem however i do have an old xp machine just lying around that i did have networked to the mac at one point. Just having a look at a scsi cable i have lying around and it doesnt seem to fit my emu is there a special cable i need or adapter to get for the emu side. Yes I think i will just get the zip drive (or two) and run it from the pc.

I did have my emu on ebay but it didnt sell for what i wanted which im kind of glad about now to be fair going to keep it :).

Has anybody got converted versions of some of these in exs24 format (for logic) or something that exs can read the options are (akai convert/soundfont convert/ samplecell convert/ DLS convert/ and giga convert) I dont have the upgraded HD in the emu so want to keep abit of it free. If anybody is willing to share that would be great.

thanks Jamie
