You have the whole kit there, as I remember this kit included EOS update + the 128 Voice Upgrade-board ? The latter you probably could self-install, but Flash-Ram... I would not risk it.

There is no installation instruction regarding Flash-Ram upgrade, or at least not for the normal customer but service-centers.
Updating an E4k was a factory install as stated on the first page of the update papers. I bought the EOS 4 update back then for my E4k I still have (only because I bought it brandnew and don't want to sell for "nothing"), just to realize the above mentioned facts when I got it (nobody told me before) :???: , so my machine is still on EOS 3.0b. So you had to either send it to E-mu or an authorized E-mu repair center in your country. As E-mu stated this is a delicate job only for pro technicians, they warned that doing it wrong can/will damage the sampler, you need to de-solder the old Flash-Ram Chips and then solder the new chips in, they are soldered directly onto the motherboard.

I do repair laptops on motherboard levels. :) On this, replace the flash is not a problem. The problem is that, after installing the flash, considered incorrect checksum. Sampler hangs when trying to upgrade the OS. After this it is necessary again to overwrite flash on the programmer. On the board where you should put the jumper (resistor), but I have not found where.

Hmm, you mean you have to put a jumper there, in addition to exchanging the Flash-Ram chips ? Dunno, guess I'm out then

One question though: What EOS was on your machine, and which EOS you was trying to install now that failed ?

Previous OS is unknow. OS is broken by previosly owner. Were installed 1mb (2x512kb) chips. I have installed 2mb (2x1mb) chips and flashed OS 4.1 from others samplers.

Sorry for bad english.

The problem is solved. Place for the jumper is R195. Here you can put beam or resistor 0Om. After installing the jumper all the errors disappeared and sampler work correctly.

Big thanx for all.

2MB Flash allows you to run OS 4.62.
I bought a suitable memory chips and flash them on the programmer with firmware, taken from another sampler.

Care to share with us some more exact data on which chip that would be?
And perhaps also some more elaborate description on how that programming works? :)

Looking for memory chips with a capacity 8Mbit (1Mb) in the case SO44. (Eg MT28F800 or similar). Also need a programmer, who can flash these chips (Xeltek SuperPro280U or similat) and adapter for these chips.
