Hi peeps

I require a EMUE6400 Volume Control/Headphone Socket Board as cheap as possible.

Presently using a substitute volume pot but not sure if it's outputting on full volume due to different values.

Make sure you've calibrated your new pot using the calibrations in the Master menu. Volume scaling is done in the digital domain on Emulator IV's. The actual value of the pot should not matter once calibrated. It's merely a voltage divider sent to the ADC.

arrr! great! Thanks for that - lack of electrical knowledge on my part! So the value is totally irrelevant???

I will look at the volume scaling thing and check if all is well

That is not exactly true. You don't want to use a value too high, as not enough current will make the readings unstable.
Too small a value will draw more current, which can also be bad for other components.
As long as you keep it close to the required value,you'll be fine.

Yes, I checked the substitute pot on the Emu - i only bought this because an electrical outlet said that they're commonly used for volume controls. It has a rating of 47K - that means nothing to me really! - Also the pot reads a value of 11 at the minimum to 3d sometimes 3c at it's maximum - these reading mean very little to me - do they sound correct to you?
