25. E-6400 Ultra for the last 2 years or so. Before that, if it counts, I had an Ensoniq ASR-X Pro about 5 years ago (which I promptly sold - piece of shit) and an Ensoniq Fizmo for the last 4 years, which I will hopefully never sell

I see a lot of us are in the upper 20s demographic...makes me feel comfortable to see people my age still passionate about music, D&B etc and not giving it all away 'cause they "wan't to settle down...groan"...we're Generation X...we never settle down hehe...

i was thinking the same thing. it is nice to know that we are all in the upper twenties. some of the people around where i am, that know me, and knew me as a teenager think that this music was a phase of my teenage years, and that i should have grown out of it. I always thought they were wrong. I always figured that most of the big name drum and bass producers had to be in thier late twenties to early/mid thirties.

i think i will be making music for years to come.

Me too. I would always read about how Dillinja started producing at 16 or whatever, and feel sort of old. But I think most of the producers are in this upper 20s age (as this thread shows). Good to know

Nads, the Akai is cool for beats but not really for other sounds as the filters are pretty weak. I don't know how I got by without my Emu.

I broke up with two girlfriends who wanted nothing more than to see me throw out my turntables (or sell them and buy a wedding ring). Fuck them.

My mother calls me once a month and asks if I still have "all of that weird equipment." Fuck her.

Yeah BC 28-29, Ed Rush and Optical ..both married (late 20s I think)...Concorde Dawn 27/28 I think and lets not mention Goldie/Doc Scott/Hype/Krust/the list goes on...

He uses an Emu as well!!!! Not dnb but kinda blue note stuff I think, it's all part of the same family though.
That keeps me going for another 44 years at least

24 here. I've had my e5000 for about 3 years now. It's the only hardware sampler I ever owned... did loads of research before going with E-mu. My friends laugh at me for sticking with hardware instead of going with software, but I love the sound of this beast and the beast loves me back.

Josef Zawniful is the man! Weather Report is one of my biggest influences, real experimental music for the 70's. Also played with Miles Davis, 71 & still at it... respect!

Started producing in '98 using nothing but A computer and DigiP. Released a couple of records but they were engineered by someone else. When I first got gear (late 2000), I was very frustrated by my lack of being able to do anything. I'm only beginning to be able to concentrate once again on the music, instead of on perfecting sound design and engineering skills. Not to say they're up to snuff, but a hell of a lot closer.

Anyway I'm rambling ... I guess all the 16 year olds are using reason.

And we can see a Korg M1, Trinity, Prophecy... a man of taste obviously
