Hi,
I was wondering if we could setup some program on the Emu to do automated sampling?
Isn't it so that when you sample, the next sample you record, will be placed on the next available key/keygroup?.

What about this?
Connect your to be sampled instrument to the sampler, pref. via midi and audio.
Create a 80bpm sequence in the internal sequencer which plays, say 4 notes per octave @ vel.100, starting at C1.
Go to the sample option, set the sample options, play the sequence and see what happens.
If this would work, we could all have new instruments in the blink of an eye.

Or am I just dreaming?

There is an automated sampling environment for Logic somewhere on the web, built by some European Trance guys, if I recall correctly. I'll look around and see if I can find it, or maybe I have it on my old PC at home...

You might like this also: http://www.xlutop.com/html/chainer.html - it can generate .wavs and/or soundfonts from VST instruments - Chickensys Translator can then convert from Sound founts into EOS presets. Not quite the same as samplerobot, but much less expensive! (Is it just me, or is $300 expensive for that software?).

Wiggers, the chainer actually exists in most audio application softwares like Sound Forge (plugin chainer) and in Sonicworx (the actual software here is a chainer).

Nice tool but not the same as samplerobot which actually triggers 127 cc value samples right across the key spans and checks for nominal values etc..

It also has velocity and aftertouch controller data, program change messaging,, calculates audio fades and crossfade loops and creates multisample keymaps with velocity splits etc. However, you can assign any values to the parameters you want and can have it sample the entire midi instrument automatically. It also exports Wav, Halion, SF2, VSampler formats. Simply set the parameteres and hit enter/go.

But I agree that in today's world of cheap technology and less hardware use, it is quite expensive. The upside is that if you sample sound modules etc.. then you realize that this software can take away the headaches associated with the process.
But is it worth 300 to you?

I know the chainer function exists in lots of software, but the bit I get excited about in Chainer is that you can load a VST instrument (e.g. all that strange stuff in Reaktor), and Chainer will export a soundfont file of that VST instrument, which you can then load into samplers.
Samplerobot wouldn't be that useful for me, because I have a few hardware synths that I use directly, rather than sampling them (maybe I'm just too old school).
So, it wouldn't be much use to me, but if someone was in the industry and wanted to generate sample sets for sale, then it would be a great (and inexpensive) tool. Hmmm...who could I be thinking of...

I would entertain using it for the hardware side of sampling, but for me, this has come too late.
I have already sampled most of my hardware synths for Emu, and particularly for a new library for the PX.

Mind you, it could pay to try this on other hardware brought in for the job, but I wonder if there would be a market for this?

This may not have all the bells & whistles of a commercial product, but it's free and open for suggestions
It's a recent add-on to Sequetron LE from http://www.philizound.co.uk called Sampler Aid, and generates a MIDI sequence of pitch/velocity combinations which can be stepped through manually or played at any speed to give you time for arming & placing each sample.
To run it, download and install Sequetron LE v11.13 or later, click Settings, Ports to setup your output target device for sampling and optionally your sampler device for auto-naming, then click Tools, Sampler Aid.
A screen-shot & full instructions are in Help, User guides, Advanced operation. The help/documentation needs to be downloaded & installed separately.
