Resampling your own presets???

Postby ezman » Wed Apr 16, 2003 9:21 pm

How easy is this, does anybody do it? Can you sample internally!??? That would be alright! I don't honestly reckon it's possible but interested in resampling techniques.

Thanks,

I actually (wow) have never tried to resample a sound from the EMU back into the EMU so I'm not sure if it's possible. Whenever I resample its usually from the EMU, through a tube (so as to partially compensate for the lost harmonic richness due to D/A-A/D conversions) and then into my MOTU2408 which has 24-bit/96kHz converters and records as audio on my hard drive. Then I send the resampled sound from my hard drive back to the EMU via SCSI.

If you don't have the gear though I would recommend> out of the EMU > into a videocassette recorder > back into the EMU. By gaining it a little bit in the videobox you could help to reduce loss of quality and at the same time beef the sample up a bit.

Hope this helps ...

i tried it a while back, it IS indeed possible, you just have to go to Sample Manage>New and turn the Source to Resample

yes, you will see that you have a to watch your levels. you will notice a bunch of different resample rates, and i actually don't think it is directly related to sound quality more so towards the loudness. i usually resample at 16 or 18 anything more and you are clipping... clipping big time... ouch

resampling works pretty good, but it will only record sound going to the main outputs (at least on mine, e6400 classic)
