I've been sucked into the great vst world that I'm sure most of you have but! I have been really getting down to business with it all latley. Comparing quality of any said vst quasisampler/quasirompler versus hardware sampler is not an easy thing. So I came really close to letting my E4XT Ultra go recenttly. Someone on this forum who was acually interested in buying it talked me out of selling it. Amazing unselfishness I must say! In need of cash I talked myself into the FACT that vst's are just as good if not better than my beloved Emu. Well, after really listening, to me anyways, all the vst's, including Atmosphere, Kontakt, Trilogy and a bunch of others, really sounded rather 2 dimensional compared to the Emu ( I have an RME HDSP 9632 soundcard, which is not the best, but not to bad either). I mean really 2D, and its not subtle. Yea, its hard to beat certain things in Kontakt, what do you guys think though? Of course, why not use both? I do. It gets me thinking though, what if Emu had kept on producing the Ultra line. I'm very glad I didn't sell the Emu. All this aside, it's refreshing to get home, turn on the Emu, and just friggin play.
