[E6400] Two hard disks ? external + internal ?

Postby nuts » Sat Aug 26, 2006 10:33 am

Hi,

I have an E6400 classic upgraded in 4.62 with an internal 18gb H.D.

As i'm afraid of drive failure i really like to have a second hard disks to keep my datas. like those external you can find on http://www.scsiforsamplers.com
Can it manage two HD ? If yes how can i copy folders from a disk to another ?
If no which solution i have, can you advice me on your methods please ?
I will buy an adaptec 1480 scsi pcmcia card in some weeks to transfer samples with my laptop , may be a solution to copy folders in that way ?

many thanks

The SCSI specification allows for up to 8 (id'd 0-7) devices on the chain and your sampler most certainly will be able to address another SCSI HD the same way it reads from the CD-ROM and/or Zip drive. It will have to be Emu formattted though. While there may be a faster way to do it, you will be able to load the bank from your existing HD and then save it to your new one. If you poke around in the Disk/Browse menu it shouldn't be hard to figure out, just browse to your existing disk, load the bank, save it to the new disk... You may be able to go into the Disk/Browse menu and go to Utils, make sure your old disk is selected and Backup.

Yeah you can backup the contents of one drive to another. I do it all the time.

Disk>ultilities>backup.

There are various options, copy all files, just files that have been modified since last backup or you can specify a range.

Check Eos 4 manual for details.

is it possible to Save a FOLDER from one HD to another?

i just received a CD with some Drum and Synth Folders and i want to be able to copy a whole folder rather than each Bank...

so i want to save a Folder from the CD to the Internal HD.

...i just Backup with Backup Funktion in the Disk menu ... It?s the fastest and easiest Way to copy all the Data. You can get very cheaply external Scsi Disk in good conditions at E-bay !
